An Addiction for the Better Good
Evie stood there, screaming at the sight before her. People screaming, running around her looking for loved ones, or just plain panicking. Burning pieces of airplane were strewed around her, covering the beach with wreckage and masses of frightened people.
How they were all alive, she would never know. Most with barely a scratch on them, it was unlike anything she had ever seen before. Like something straight out of a movie.
She slowly stumbled over the wreckage, looking over people and trying to help whoever seemed to need it. She watched as one man ran around, seeming to be the hero of the bunch. It was obvious instantly that he was a doctor, he seemed to know exactly what he was doing. She was about to see if she could help, when she watched him run towards a pregnant woman who was sitting with a large man.
She ran quickly, away from the wreckage, flying forward as the wing fell, blowing up and causing everyone in its path to fall forward.
A coughing fit ripped through her, the smoke from the fire running through her lungs. Gasping for air, she accepted a hand that appeared before her, allowing it to help her to her feet. Her blurred vision landed on a curly haired Arabic man.
Wiping her eyes, she offered a small smile of thanks.
"Thank you." She choked out, patting her chest lightly.
"You are most welcome, are you hurt?" He questioned, holding onto her arm as she coughed. Shaking her head lightly, she forced out a quiet "no" before taking a deep breath.
"I'm fine, aside from shock I guess." She whispered, looking back over at the wreckage. A small tear falling from her eye as she stared at the scene playing before her. It seemed surreal, something she never could have imagined in a million years.
"Help should come soon I'm sure. In the mean time, I'm going to build a signal fire. My name is Sayid, call for me if you need anything." He smiled, placing a hand on her back before walking away.
It was now night, the sun had set hours ago, yet there was still no sign of rescue. To say she was worried would be an understatement.
She thought about sitting with Sayid, the only person she had met, but he was sitting next to someone by the signal fire. She knew him from somewhere, yet she wasn't sure where. His voice had a strong English accent, which only made it strange that he seemed so familiar, seeing that she was from Australia.
Slowly, she stood up and made her way towards the log they were sitting on, curiosity getting the best of her. She sat down on the other side of Sayid, smiling as he smiled at her.
"Thought I'd come introduce myself since I didn't earlier. I'm Evangeline... Evie for short." She said, extending her hand to him and shaking it.
"Its nice to meet you Evie, as you know I'm Sayid, and next to me is Charlie." He said, nodding his head towards the sandy blonde haired man who sat beside him, writing on bandages that were wrapped around his fingers.
Charlie looked up at her, smiling slightly and shaking her hand.
"Nice to meet you." He whispered, putting his hood up before going back to writing on his bandages.
"You too." She smiled, watching him carefully. "I swear I've seen you before, on TV or something."
He slowly looked back up to her, a huge smile adorning his face.
"Wouldn't surprise me. Charlie Pace... bassist in the band Driveshaft."
"No way." She laughed, playfully smacking her forehead. "I cant believe I didn't know that, I loved you guys."
"Love." He corrected, smiling. "Making a comeback you know." He finished, before quickly looking towards the jungle as a loud high pitched noise sounded from somewhere on the island.
